The one-tailed fox is a harbinger for the nine-tailed terror; its voice a call to delusion. When multitudes of yokai convene for the grand banquet of the night, there is only one way to survive: Extinguish your lights, silence your breath, and hide―until the break of dawn.

Long ago, in the blurred space between mythology and history, the great fox created the first clone in her own likeness. As she gazed upon the magnificent one-tailed fox―a spitting image of herself―she blushed.
